Retaining skilled workers through motivation: The Malaysian case

Skill drain is a loss of human capital, investment in education and training. This study examines if motivated, skilled workers at the firm level can retain mitigate capital. A survey was conducted Iskandar city to gather workers’ feedback on their current working conditions Malaysia. Completed responses were tested for data adequacy, reliability, factor analysis multiple-regression analysis. The findings this suggest that perceive instrumentality as primary motivating factor, be followed by expectancy valence. Instrumentality intrinsic monetary rewards vital retaining workers. practical implication suggests non-monetary recognition are effective Firms other developing countries may consider implementing instrumental strategies workplace
